Blog Reflection

February 19, 2008

I’ve just looked back at my first ever blog post and I remembered how unsure I felt when I was writing it! It’s really strange because I had never thought of having ablog before and now I have one I enjoy writing on it.

It’s strange to think that only a couple of months ago I was really nervous about knowing what to write and now I just write about anything I fancy.

Does anyone else feel this way? That you used to be really unsure of what to write and now you’re not?

 Hmmmmm!

p.s. really nervous about tomorrow! :(

My Favourite Books

February 18, 2008

I’ve just read Mrs V’s post on her favourite books and I thought I would share my favourite books with you.

There are books that I loved when I was in Primary school that really stick in my mind. When I was in P5/P6 I read all of The Babysitters Club books and I used to love them. There are a lot so it took a long time to read them all.

Two other books that were real favourites of mine are: The Doll by Cora Taylor and The Theif of Always by Clive Barker. It has been so long since I have read them that I can’t remember everything that happened in them so I think I will read them again when I get some time!

The Dollis about a girl called Meg who is very ill. She goes away to stay with her Gran to get beter and she is given a doll. This doll has been handed down through generations. When Meg goes to sleep at night she wakes up in another time. She begins to use the doll more and more to go back to this time where she is travelling accross the prairies in a waggon. However, the good times don’t last…

The Thief of Always is about a boy called Harvey Swick. All of a sudden he is swept away to a magical land where everything is perfect. This land is Mr Hoods Holiday house. Harvey has a great time here until he realises things are not as they seem…

Thought of the Day

February 9, 2008

I’m getting the hang of this posting business now (I think anyway, I know I’m still rambling a lot!)

I’ve been busy planning for next week all day and I needed a break so thought I would come and check if I had any comments. Then I started thinking about yesterday and Suzanne Hart who kindly came to talk to us. Mrs Vass has been very kind and organised people to discuss their professions with P7. It will be very interesting to hear about different careers.

Then I remembered that people are saying they may want to be teachers when they are older and I suddenly realised that noone has spoke to P7 about that option (or have they and I wasn’t there then?) Seems odd, as we are in a school with loads of teachers! Things like that quite often happen however as sometimes we don’t realise the obvious things that are right under our noses. P7 obviously know a lot about teachers but they don’t know everything and perhaps there are questions that people would like to ask?

It would be easier to get a teacher to speak to P7 than it would be to get in any other person from any other career. Am I talking nonsense? What do you all think?

Back to work now!

3 weeks!

February 7, 2008

I can’t believe I’ve been in P7V for 3 weeks now, it has flown by! I’m really enjoying it though. Next weeks only a 3 day week though so that will be over before I know it aswell!

We’ve started WW2 now but we haven’t managed to get a lot of things done because of the Burns’ Supper and various other activities. What we have done has been good though. We all did ‘blackout drawings’ this week and they were fab! P7V are a very arty class and I think it would be good to use art in this topic where possible. Does anyone else agree? Next week we’ll be looking at rationing and the effects this had.

Anyway, off to watch American Idol and get a laugh at all the people who can’t sing!

Burns’ Supper

February 7, 2008

What a great afternoon it was! I had so much fun watching everyone and everyone did so well. I haven’t been to a Burns’ Supper since I was at Primary School and I forgot how much fun it can be.

I was really impressed by all the poems, acts and dancing. Even although the plans changed so much it didn’t matter as everyone really tried their best and it showed in all the performances.

Well done to the committee as well, they didn’t have long to practise but they all did really well and pulled the whole event together.

Maybe now I will be able to get the Burns songs and poems out my head!
