The World of Work

January 31, 2008

I thought I would write something about this as so many of you have. Although I have not fully entered the world of work officially I am nearly there! Fingers crossed anyway!

Where to start? Well, when I was wee I always wanted to be a teacher. I used to make my little brother sit and listen to me when I pretended to teach him! I used to have to bribe him with sweets etc! However, when he got a bit older he did appreciate the help with his homework so I think we both benefitted from it!

I loved primary school and I really wanted to be a primary school teacher. I loved learning about all different things and I especially enjoyed history, art and music.

However, when I went to highschool I found everything very different. I discovered I was good at science and because of this I sat my highers in maths, english, biology, physics and chemistry. I passed thankfully! My teachers then encouraged me to get a job within this field so I began to think that this would be a good idea. All of a sudden I was really confused about what I wanted to do. I completed another year at high school and still had not idea what I wanted to do when I left so I decided to take a year out and work.

Whilst I was on my year out my Mum asked me why I had forgotten about primary teaching and I realised that I didn’t really know. My Mum put this thought back into my head and so I went to my own primary school and volunteered for my two days off each week. I loved it and knew, once again, that this was what I wanted to do.

Anyway, enough rambliung on, my final point is…even if you don’t know just now, or even when you finish school! You’ll eventually find what you love to do and when you do you should go for it! I’m glad I did and now I only have 6 months to go (touch wood)!

Happy job hunting when the time comes! I hope to see you all again in a few years time so you can fill me in on what you eventually decided!

Phew!

January 25, 2008

Well that’s my first week at cps over and I’ve really enjoyed it. Tired now though! Hope the class are enjoying having me as much as I am enjoying being there!

I feel like the class have been really welcoming and because of this I have been able to settle in really quickly. The first week has flown by. It’s been great spending time getting to know P7V.

Really looking forward to starting the new topic next week although I think I’m the only one ( I plan to, and hope to, change that!)

I had a really good conversation with Monica and Rebecca about music this week and it got me to thinking. I love music and I love listening to different kinds of music for different things. Maybe we could have different music in the class for different purposes? Like fast, fun music for tidying up (sometimes we need a bit of a kick start)! I don’t know, just a thought! If anyone has any ideas you can let me know!

We started a new points system this week and I thought it worked really well. Not sure who agrees. I liked that we worked as a class to get the points and then the whole class was rewarded with an activity they could all participate in together. We’ll need to talk about next week though and try and make it a bit more organised!

Anyway, I’m off to do some uni work! Fun fun fun!
